What are packaging adhesive materials?

Adhesives, primarily used in packaging for bonding, have been applied in the packaging industry for nearly a century. Globally, the packaging industry consumes approximately 35% of all adhesives annually, mainly in packaging material manufacturing, container forming, label bonding, and sealing, extending to industrial equipment repair and electronic packaging.

With increasingly stringent environmental regulations, packaging adhesives are gradually shifting towards lower-pollution options: demand for organic solvent-based products is declining, while the use of water-based adhesives and hot melt adhesives is increasing. The paper packaging sector is adopting easily removable or biodegradable adhesives to meet recycling requirements, and metal-polymer composite technology is becoming a key development focus due to its environmental advantages. Tools such as hot melt glue guns, due to their ease of operation and non-toxic, environmentally friendly characteristics, have become mainstream equipment in the packaging industry, with standardized operating procedures reflecting technological maturity. Continuous innovation in adhesive technology drives material selection and process optimization, with improved production efficiency and environmental requirements jointly driving industry development.
